Welcome to Calendar Girl Talk. My name is Stacey and I work REALLY, REALLY hard to be an organized person and to have an organized life. I wish organization came naturally however, if it did - I would not be who I am. I once heard Oprah talking about food and hunger. She said her doctor told her "You have to learn how to embrace hunger" which made me laugh along with Oprah and the audience. I'm starting to feel the same way about my natural inclination toward creating clutter. I'm trying to embrace the fact that my personality is such that piles and clutter seems to emerge just from my brain activity. I have dozens of interests and my mind is always going. The clutter and the piles and the disorganization are simply by-products of my personality. So great - I'm learning to embrace that fact. However - I do have to get things under control so struggle away I must do. Fact - Accept - Hug!
My blog is all about my attempts and methods to get organized - for the home, office, family, personal, social and creative life. There are many sites out there discussing ways to get organized. Calendar Girl Talk has a bit of a different twist. I talk about using wall calendars, whiteboards and other types of wall organizing tools to assist in the process. You see - if your planning tools are hung on the wall, not only will they never get lost or buried under piles on your desk - they will remain in your visual space serving as constant reminders for you and family or work members to see what needs to get done.
Electronic tools for organizing can be great. Even I have an iPhone, an iPad as well as my computer. I make it my business to try as many digital planning and organizing applications as I can. I love some better than others. However........ for ME and my style which is visual and kinesthetic (which by the way - means I like to touch things) - there is nothing that beats having my plan up on the wall. My wall planners can not shut down nor lose power. They can not get lost or buried. I do not need to remember to turn them on. There is no learning curve to get past when starting with them and they are inexpensive and fun to use. They do not need updates, debugging nor are there any operating system incompatibilities. Simple and old-fashioned? Maybe - but you know what? THEY WORK!!!!
I designed my own wall planning tools from scratch and still continue to refine and create new layouts. They are visual, colorful and interesting to look at as well as interactive, functional and completely customizable. My posts will contain links to bring you to my online store where you can view all my creations. (And - for any of my fellow blog followers - you will receive a special discount on your first order. Just email me for details!)
Is Calendar Girl Talk for girls only? No way! This site is for any gender any age - anyone looking for new and creative ways to get organized.
I look forward to reading your comments and contributions. Let's get started.....
xoxo Calendar Girl
